Managing Partners Mr. Shapiro is a Managing Partner and the Chief Executive Officer of Timbervest. He has direct responsibility for the overall leadership, strategy and marketing of Timbervest and its related entities. Under his leadership, Timbervest has grown into a leading investment manager in the timberland, rural real estate, and environmental infrastructure asset classes. Mr. Shapiro has extensive experience and expertise in the acquisition, management, and disposition within these assets and maintains relationships with a broad and diverse group of real estate buyers and sellers, industry players, consultants, financial institutions, and government agencies. Mr. Shapiro also has more than 24 years of experience in the investment industry, having previously founded Shapiro Capital Management, a leading “small‑cap” money management firm. In addition, he was the founder and president of The Atlanta Growth Fund, a publicly traded mutual fund, deploying a regionally focused investment strategy. Throughout his career, he has developed novel approaches to investments and investment theories, and his views and concepts have been published, noted, and written about in various publications. Mr. Shapiro is also a Founding Board Member of the Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease Consortium (Pediatric IBD Consortium), a national group of leading children’s research hospitals focused on providing key genetic, biological, and potentially curing research to children with IBD. With a broad operational knowledge of traditional as well as alternative investments, Mr. Shapiro brings an experienced, tactical skill‑set to Timbervest. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Georgia.
Employees Mr. Bernhardt serves as a Portfolio Manager for Timbervest Crossover Assets Funds and primarily focuses on the underwriting, due diligence, and financial analysis of prospective mitigation and conservation bank investments. Prior to joining Timbervest, Mr. Bernhardt worked as an Equity Research Analyst at Sandler O’Neill & Partners where he focused on the financial analysis and valuation of companies in the financial services industry. Mr. Bernhardt graduated from Vanderbilt University with a B.A. in Economics and is currently a Level III candidate in the CFA Program. As Manager of Client Relations, Ms. Berwind is responsible for assisting Bill Boden and David Zell with day-to-day information management. Her responsibilities also include accounting and marketing support. Ms. Berwind holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Real Estate from Georgia State University. As Controller, Mr. Boardman is responsible for all accounting related to Timbervest’s operations. He has extensive experience in managing accounting operations and developing cash-flow models, corporate budgets, and financial forecasts. Prior to joining Timbervest, Mr. Boardman served in senior financial management positions as controller and chief financial officer of several public and private corporations including Novoste, The Peanut Factory, Celeco Hedemora, and Electrical Insulation Suppliers. Previously, he was a senior manager with Price Waterhouse Coopers. Mr. Boardman is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a MBA from the University of Michigan and an engineering degree from Georgia Tech. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants, and Financial Executives International.
Mr. Browne, a Timbervest, LLC Regional Forester, joined the firm in 2007. He is assisting with the identification, analysis, acquisition, management, development, and sale of timberland properties in the Southeast Region. Mr. Browne has more than 24 years of experience in industrial forest management including land management, wood procurement, harvesting operations, wildlife management, and timber land sales. Prior to joining Timbervest, he was the Land Manager for Copper Station Properties, a Real Estate Investment Company. Mr. Browne spent 23 years with International Paper and Union Camp Corporation. During his tenure at International Paper and Union Camp, Mr. Browne supervised the management of 180,000 acres of timberland in the Southeastern United States, and was responsible for purchasing wood fiber for several company owned facilities. Mr. Browne is a graduate of North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Forest Management. He is a Registered Forester in Georgia and South Carolina and a Registered Real Estate Appraiser in Georgia.
As Manager of Business Development and Client Services, Ms. Browning is responsible for coordinating marketing operations and client services. Her responsibilities also include assisting Joel Shapiro and Stephanie Hammond with information management. Ms. Browning is a graduate of the University of Florida and holds a Bachelor of Science in Recreation, Parks and Tourism with a specialization in Event Management.
Mr. Carter, a Timbervest Vice President and Director of Strategic Land Management, is primarily responsible for managing all aspects of property transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions. He is also involved in legal oversight and compliance matters. Before joining the team at Timbervest, Mr. Carter worked with Parker, Hudson, Rainer & Dobbs LLP. He has extensive experience in commercial transactions including real estate, finance and mergers, and acquisitions. Mr. Carter received his Bachelors of Business Administration, with a major in finance, from Georgia State University, his Paralegal Certificate from the National Center for Paralegal Training with a specialty in business transactions, and his MBA from Mercer University with a concentration in international business. As a Finance Manager working primarily on the Timbervest Crossover Assets Funds, Mr. Comiskey is responsible for client portfolio accounting, managing the daily portfolio transactions, preparing quarterly and year-end reports, and assisting in the evaluation of portfolio performance. Prior to Timbervest, Mr. Comiskey served as both Controller and Assistant Controller for several real estate development and management firms. Mr. Comiskey is a Certified Public Accountant. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Comiskey graduated from the University of Georgia with Bachelors and Masters degrees in Accounting. Mr. Eaddy, a forester and real estate broker, joined Timbervest in 2011. He is assisting with the analysis and disposition of timberland tracts. Mr. Eaddy has more than 30 years of experience with the forest industry in the southeastern United States. Prior to joining Timbervest, he was Vice President at Stone Forestry Services, responsible for marketing and tree planting in surface mine reclamation. Mr. Eaddy has 10 years of experience in selling timberland with Copper Station Properties and MeadWestvaco. Mr. Eaddy is a graduate of North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Forest Management and Webster University with a Masters in Business Administration. He is a Registered Forester in South Carolina, North Carolina, and West Virginia, as well as a Real Estate Broker in South Carolina. Ms. Falk joined Timbervest in 2012 as Office Manager. Her duties include managing day-to-day office operations and communications. She has previously worked as an office manager for several medical practices. Ms. Falk studied communications at Oglethorpe University. Mr. Feinberg is the Director and Portfolio Manager of Timbervest Securities. In this role, Mr. Feinberg is primarily responsible for the identification, underwriting, and execution of the Timbervest Securities portfolios and has direct responsibility for day to day management of the portfolios. He has more than 15 years of experience in the investment management industry where his experience has centered on professional investment management, with a particular expertise in analyzing global paper, packaging and forest product related companies. Mr. Feinberg grew up in and around his family business, a corrugated container packaging & paper company started in the early 1930s. He has managed investment portfolios for the IBM Corporation, as well as a multi-family investment office where he was involved in both private and public investments in the forest products industries. Mr. Feinberg also founded, served on the investment committee and was President of Feinberg Capital Advisors, a value oriented investment firm. Mr. Feinberg graduated from Emory University with both a BBA and MBA in finance and general management. Ms. Fox serves as the in-house Graphic Designer and Editor. She is responsible for the design and production of Timbervest’s marketing materials. Ms. Fox holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pittsburgh and graduated with honors from the Art Institute of Atlanta’s graphic design program.
Ms. Hammond joined us in 2012 as Director of Business Development and Client Relations. She is an accomplished professional with 10 years of experience in the financial sector. Prior to joining Timbervest, Ms. Hammond was a Financial Advisor for Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, working with high net worth individuals to create financial plans and implement appropriate asset allocation of their portfolios. As Manager of Investor Relations for Scientific-Atlanta, Inc., Ms. Hammond successfully positioned the company to investors resulting in a 600% increase in the stock price during her tenure. Previously, Ms. Hammond served as a commercial lender for SunTrust Banks, Inc. analyzing corporate and individual’s debt structure to qualify for lending based on SunTrust credit standards. In the community, she has served in various board positions and on fundraising committees with Art Partners at the High Museum of Art. Ms. Hammond earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Florida and a Master’s in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from Georgia State University.
As a Manager of Legal Affairs, Ms. Henshaw is responsible for assisting with the management of all aspects of property transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions of portfolio properties. She is also involved with the oversight of property management issues and all post-closing matters. Before joining Timbervest, Ms. Henshaw was a paralegal on the Commercial Real Estate Team at Seyfarth Shaw LLP. Ms. Henshaw received her Bachelor of Science in Social Science from Florida State University. As a Manager of Land Operations, Ms. Higgins is responsible for assisting with the management of all aspects of property transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions of portfolio properties. She is also involved with the oversight of property management issues and all post-closing matters. Before joining Timbervest, Ms. Higgins was a paralegal on the Commercial Real Estate Team at Parker, Hudson, Rainer & Dobbs LLP. Ms. Higgins received her Bachelor of Arts in History and English from the University of Georgia and her paralegal certificate with a specialty in business transactions from the National Center for Paralegal Training.
Mr. Jacobson serves as a Senior Associate for Timbervest Crossover Assets™ Funds. Mr. Jacobson primarily focuses on the underwriting and financial analysis of prospective investments as well as the management of existing assets purchased through the funds. Prior to joining Timbervest, Mr. Jacobson worked as an analyst at a boutique investment bank focusing on the gaming and leisure industries. Previously, Mr. Jacobson worked as a senior associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers in its real estate business advisory services group. Mr. Jacobson graduated from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University obtaining a BS in Finance with a concentration in real estate. Mr. Lorberbaum serves as an Analyst for Timbervest Crossover Assets ™ Funds. He primarily focuses on the underwriting and financial analysis of prospective investments as well as the management of existing assets purchased through the funds. Prior to joining Timbervest, Mr. Lorberbaum worked as an intern at a boutique valuation and investment banking firm which offers its services to a broad range of clients. Mr. Lorberbaum graduated from the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia with a BBA in Finance and is currently a Level II candidate in the CFA program. Mr. Luke serves as the Human Resources Manager. He is primarily responsible for oversight and administration of recruiting, compensation, benefits, performance management, insurance, and employee relations. Prior to joining Timbervest, Mr. Luke was the Human Resources Manager with C.W. Matthews Contracting Co., Inc., a heavy construction firm. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Operational Management and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology at Georgia State University. Mr. Luke holds a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certificate with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
Mr. Mastin joined the firm in 2012 as a Timbervest Regional Forester. His responsibilities include assisting in the identification, analysis, acquisition, management, development, and sale of timberland properties in the West Gulf Region. Mr. Mastin has been in the forest industry for more than 19 years. Prior to joining Timbervest, Mr. Mastin spent 17 years at Temple-Inland, most recently in the Wood Supply division. As the Operations Leader for Wood Supply, Particleboard, and MDF, he supplied raw material to four particleboard mills and two MDF plants. Previously, he worked as the Basin Manager for Strategic Fiber Supply and Logistics. Mr. Mastin also spent many years in the Forest division at Temple-Inland. While leader of the Plantation Growth and Productivity group, he was responsible for managing approximately one million acres of industrial forest in Texas and Louisiana. Prior to that, Mr. Mastin worked as Senior Forest Analyst, scheduling harvests and providing analytical support for about two million acres in Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, and Georgia. Mr. Mastin holds a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from Stephen F. Austin State University. As a Senior Accountant, Mr. McLeod assists with various aspects of financial reporting for timber funds. This includes performing general accounting activities, preparing financial statements, and supporting audits. Prior to joining Timbervest, he worked as an investment fund accountant for a fund administrator, Equinoxe Alternative Investment Services. Previously, he was an audit senior with Williams Benator and Libby. He has experience leading audit engagements in several industries including investment companies. Mr. McLeod is a Certified Public Accountant. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. McLeod holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in accounting from Georgia State University.
As Manager of Appraisals and Mapping, Mr. Morganstern coordinates annual timberland appraisals, serves as the liaison to Timbervest’s outside Geographic Information Systems (GIS) consulting firms and supports the legal, timberland, and Crossover departments using GIS technologies. Seth earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science at The Evergreen State College and is currently pursuing a Masters in GIS.
Mr. Normanly serves as a Portfolio Manager for Timbervest’s Crossover Assets Funds. He manages the firm’s investments in mitigation and conservation banking and other opportunistic assets focused on the environment and ecosystems. His primary responsibility is providing day to day oversight of existing Crossover Assets and implementing creative, well-defined, and active management plans to both maximize returns and develop functional, self-sustaining ecosystems with long-term conservation value. Mr. Normanly also works closely with the Managing Partners and the Crossover investment team to evaluate and underwrite new investment opportunities. Prior to joining Timbervest, Mr. Normanly served as Mitigation/Environmental Markets Practice Leader at Jacobs JJG (Jordan, Jones & Goulding), specializing in mitigation banking and ecological restoration. Over his 14 years of environmental consulting, he has worked on more than 90 mitigation and ecological restoration projects resulting in the restoration and preservation of several miles of stream and adjacent riparian habitat and hundreds of acres of wetlands. Many of these lands have been incorporated into state and county parks, wildlife management areas, and private reserves. Mr. Normanly is a frequent speaker at conferences that span multiple professional disciplines including forestry, environmental law, and water resources. He received a Bachelor of Science in Ecology from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill and a Master of Science in Forest Resources from the University of Georgia’s Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources. Mr. Normanly is certified as a Professional Wetland Scientist by the Society of Wetland Scientists and a Certified Ecologist by the Ecological Society of America. Mr. Reaves joined Timbervest in 2012 as a GIS & Data Manager. He is responsible for managing the spatial and timber inventory data for timberland properties. Other responsibilities include mapping, timber sale tracking, process evaluation, and database management. Mr. Reaves gained broad knowledge in forest management and the application of technology in a forestry setting while working as a GIS Coordinator, forester, and product manager of TwoDog Forest Inventory Software at Fountains Forestry in eastern Tennessee. Mr. Reaves earned his Bachelor of Science in Forestry with a strong emphasis on GIS from Virginia Tech University. As a Staff Accountant, Ms. Register is responsible for general accounting activities including cash disbursements, cash receipts, general ledger entries, and transaction processing. Prior to joining Timbervest, she held an accounting position with a fire extinguisher service and worked with a CPA firm. Ms. Register holds a Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness from the University of Georgia.
Mr. Register serves as a Portfolio Manager and Forestry Analyst. He is primarily responsible for property analytics used in the acquisition and disposition of timberland and the conversion of timber properties to higher and better use applications. Mr. Register gained extensive knowledge in forest management while working as a forester for Hancock Forest Management in South Carolina and Arkansas. His experience and knowledge of analytics and practical forest management aids significantly in our ability to target and locate the right investment opportunities. Mr. Register earned a BS in Agricultural Economics and a Masters of Forest Resources from the University of Georgia. He is a Registered Forester in both South Carolina and Arkansas.
Ms. Seabolt serves as Vice President and General Counsel. She is primarily responsible for general legal and business oversight and compliance matters. Prior to joining Timbervest, Ms. Seabolt was a senior attorney at Holland & Knight LLP, where her law practice focused on general commercial real estate including office and retail leasing, acquisition and development, and commercial lending. Ms. Seabolt received a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Georgia and a JD degree from Georgia State University College of Law, cum laude. Ms. Seabolt is a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Georgia, the Atlanta Bar Association, and CREW Network.
Mr. Smallwood is a Compliance Manager and Director of Trading and Operations of Timbervest. He is primarily responsible for providing operational oversight and assuring Timbervest’s compliance with industry rules and regulations. In addition, Mr. Smallwood serves as a trader for Timbervest Securities global portfolio. Mr. Smallwood has more than 22 years of experience in the financial industry. Prior to joining Timbervest, Mr. Smallwood was the Director of Trading for Iron Capital and served in a senior compliance capacity where he helped to launch a hedge fund. Prior to his boutique investment advisory experience, Mr. Smallwood was a Senior International Equity Trader at Invesco for 10 years where he traded equities, derivatives, and currencies throughout the globe. Prior to joining Invesco, Mr. Smallwood served for 10 years at Merrill Lynch as an Institutional Equity Sales Trader, Customer Service Representative, and in various internships. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Syracuse University.
As a Portfolio Manager and Forestry Analyst, Mr. Walstad is responsible for property analytics used to aid decision-making in the acquisition and disposition of timberland and the conversion of timber properties to higher and better use applications, where appropriate. These duties include, cash flow analysis, scenario analysis, forecasting IRRs, and on-site due diligence. With his hand-on experience in forest management, Mr. Walstad is able to combine analytics and practical knowledge to select those properties which will provide the best risk-return characteristics. His prior experience includes real estate brokerage and forestry operations. Mr. Walstad is a licensed real estate agent and has a degree in housing and economics from the University of Georgia. Mr. Yearout joined Timbervest in 2011 as a Forestry Analyst. He is responsible for property analytics used in the acquisition and disposition of timberland properties. Other responsibilities include cash flow analysis, scenario analysis, and IRR forecasting. Mr. Yearout gained broad knowledge in forest management while working as a Forest Manager for Molpus Timberlands Management, LLC in Louisiana and Texas. Mr. Yearout earned his Bachelor of Science in Natural Resource Management and a Masters of Forest Resources with an emphasis in business economics and finance from Clemson University Marketing and Client Relations Ms. Hammond joined us in 2012 as Director of Business Development and Client Relations. He has more than 30 years of experience with the forest industry in the northeastern United States. Prior to joining Timbervest he worked as a consulting forester with private landowners and with a land surveying firm for several years. Mr. Harvish was employed by International Paper Co. for 10 years in both New York and Maine in several positions with responsibilities ranging from company and private forestland management to wood yard and fiber procurement program supervision. For 20 years he was owner and president of a timber harvesting company that utilized the most advanced logging technology. This involved operations planning, land and timber acquisition, sale of wood products, and production. Mr. Harvish has served on the State of Maine Forest Industry Task Force and as a Director for The Northeastern Loggers Association. He is a member of the Society of American Foresters and The Northeastern Loggers Association. Tony has a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry at Syracuse and a Bachelor of Science degree from Syracuse University.

While leader of the Plantation Growth and Productivity group, he was responsible for managing approximately one million acres of industrial forest in Texas and Louisiana. Prior to that, Mr. Mastin worked as Senior Forest Analyst, scheduling harvests and providing analytical support for about two million acres in Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, and Georgia. Mr. Mastin holds a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from Stephen F. Austin State University. Analytics As a Portfolio Manager and Forestry Analyst, Mr. Walstad is responsible for property analytics used to aid decision-making in the acquisition and disposition of timberland and the conversion of timber properties to higher and better use applications, where appropriate. These duties include, cash flow analysis, scenario analysis, forecasting IRRs, and on-site due diligence. With his hand-on experience in forest management, Mr. Walstad is able to combine analytics and practical knowledge to select those properties which will provide the best risk-return characteristics. His prior experience includes real estate brokerage and forestry operations. Mr. Walstad is a licensed real estate agent and has a degree in housing and economics from the University of Georgia.
Mr. Register serves as a Portfolio Manager and Forestry Analyst. He is primarily responsible for property analytics used in the acquisition and disposition of timberland and the conversion of timber properties to higher and better use applications. Mr. Register gained extensive knowledge in forest management while working as a forester for Hancock Forest Management in South Carolina and Arkansas. His experience and knowledge of analytics and practical forest management aids significantly in our ability to target and locate the right investment opportunities. Mr. Register earned a BS in Agricultural Economics and a Masters of Forest Resources from the University of Georgia. He is a Registered Forester in both South Carolina and Arkansas.
Mr. Feinberg is the Director and Portfolio Manager of Timbervest Securities. In this role, Mr. Feinberg is primarily responsible for the identification, underwriting, and execution of the Timbervest Securities portfolios and has direct responsibility for day to day management of the portfolios. He has more than 15 years of experience in the investment management industry where his experience has centered on professional investment management, with a particular expertise in analyzing global paper, packaging and forest product related companies. Mr. Feinberg grew up in and around his family business, a corrugated container packaging & paper company started in the early 1930s. He has managed investment portfolios for the IBM Corporation, as well as a multi-family investment office where he was involved in both private and public investments in the forest products industries. Mr. Feinberg also founded, served on the investment committee and was President of Feinberg Capital Advisors, a value oriented investment firm. Mr. Feinberg graduated from Emory University with both a BBA and MBA in finance and general management.
As Manager of Appraisals and Mapping, Mr. Morganstern coordinates annual timberland appraisals, serves as the liaison to Timbervest’s outside Geographic Information Systems (GIS) consulting firms and supports the legal, timberland, and Crossover departments using GIS technologies. Seth earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science at The Evergreen State College and is currently pursuing a Masters in GIS. Mr. Eaddy, a forester and real estate broker, joined Timbervest in 2011. He is assisting with the analysis and disposition of timberland tracts. Mr. Eaddy has more than 30 years of experience with the forest industry in the southeastern United States. Prior to joining Timbervest, he was Vice President at Stone Forestry Services, responsible for marketing and tree planting in surface mine reclamation. Mr. Eaddy has 10 years of experience in selling timberland with Copper Station Properties and MeadWestvaco. Mr. Eaddy is a graduate of North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Forest Management and Webster University with a Masters in Business Administration. He is a Registered Forester in South Carolina, North Carolina, and West Virginia, as well as a Real Estate Broker in South Carolina. Mr. Yearout joined Timbervest in 2011 as a Forestry Analyst. He is responsible for property analytics used in the acquisition and disposition of timberland properties. Other responsibilities include cash flow analysis, scenario analysis, and IRR forecasting. Mr. Yearout gained broad knowledge in forest management while working as a Forest Manager for Molpus Timberlands Management, LLC in Louisiana and Texas. Mr. Yearout earned his Bachelor of Science in Natural Resource Management and a Masters of Forest Resources with an emphasis in business economics and finance from Clemson University. Mr. Reaves joined Timbervest in 2012 as a GIS & Data Manager. He is responsible for managing the spatial and timber inventory data for timberland properties. Other responsibilities include mapping, timber sale tracking, process evaluation, and database management. Mr. Reaves gained broad knowledge in forest management and the application of technology in a forestry setting while working as a GIS Coordinator, forester, and product manager of TwoDog Forest Inventory Software at Fountains Forestry in eastern Tennessee. Mr. Reaves earned his Bachelor of Science in Forestry with a strong emphasis on GIS from Virginia Tech University. Transactions Ms. Seabolt serves as Vice President and General Counsel. She is primarily responsible for general legal and business oversight and compliance matters. Prior to joining Timbervest, Ms. Seabolt was a senior attorney at Holland & Knight LLP, where her law practice focused on general commercial real estate including office and retail leasing, acquisition and development, and commercial lending. Ms. Seabolt received a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Georgia and a JD degree from Georgia State University College of Law, cum laude. Ms. Seabolt is a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Georgia, the Atlanta Bar Association, and CREW Network.
As a Manager of Legal Affairs, Ms. Henshaw is responsible for assisting with the management of all aspects of property transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions of portfolio properties. She is also involved with the oversight of property management issues and all post-closing matters. Before joining Timbervest, Ms. Henshaw was a paralegal on the Commercial Real Estate Team at Seyfarth Shaw LLP. Ms. Henshaw received her Bachelor of Science in Social Science from Florida State University. Land Management Mr. Carter, a Timbervest Vice President and Director of Strategic Land Management, is primarily responsible for managing all aspects of property transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions. He is also involved in legal oversight and compliance matters. Before joining the team at Timbervest, Mr. Carter worked with Parker, Hudson, Rainer & Dobbs LLP. He has extensive experience in commercial transactions including real estate, finance and mergers, and acquisitions. Mr. Carter received his Bachelors of Business Administration, with a major in finance, from Georgia State University, his Paralegal Certificate from the National Center for Paralegal Training with a specialty in business transactions, and his MBA from Mercer University with a concentration in international business. As a Manager of Land Operations, Ms. Higgins is responsible for assisting with the management of all aspects of property transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions of portfolio properties. She is also involved with the oversight of property management issues and all post-closing matters. Before joining Timbervest, Ms. Higgins was a paralegal on the Commercial Real Estate Team at Parker, Hudson, Rainer & Dobbs LLP. Ms. Higgins received her Bachelor of Arts in History and English from the University of Georgia and her paralegal certificate with a specialty in business transactions from the National Center for Paralegal Training. As Controller, Mr. Boardman is responsible for all accounting related to Timbervest’s operations. He has extensive experience in managing accounting operations and developing cash-flow models, corporate budgets, and financial forecasts. Prior to joining Timbervest, Mr. Boardman served in senior financial management positions as controller and chief financial officer of several public and private corporations including Novoste, The Peanut Factory, Celeco Hedemora, and Electrical Insulation Suppliers. Previously, he was a senior manager with Price Waterhouse Coopers. Mr. Boardman is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a MBA from the University of Michigan and an engineering degree from Georgia Tech. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants, and Financial Executives International.
As a Finance Manager working primarily on the Timbervest Crossover Assets Funds, Mr. Comiskey is responsible for client portfolio accounting, managing the daily portfolio transactions, preparing quarterly and year-end reports, and assisting in the evaluation of portfolio performance. Prior to Timbervest, Mr. Comiskey served as both Controller and Assistant Controller for several real estate development and management firms. Mr. Comiskey is a Certified Public Accountant. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Comiskey graduated from the University of Georgia with Bachelors and Masters degrees in Accounting. As a Senior Accountant, Mr. McLeod assists with various aspects of financial reporting for timber funds. This includes performing general accounting activities, preparing financial statements, and supporting audits. Prior to joining Timbervest, he worked as an investment fund accountant for a fund administrator, Equinoxe Alternative Investment Services. Previously, he was an audit senior with Williams Benator and Libby. He has experience leading audit engagements in several industries including investment companies. Mr. McLeod is a Certified Public Accountant. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. McLeod holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in accounting from Georgia State University.
As a Staff Accountant, Ms. Register is responsible for general accounting activities including cash disbursements, cash receipts, general ledger entries, and transaction processing. Prior to joining Timbervest, she held an accounting position with a fire extinguisher service and worked with a CPA firm. Ms. Register holds a Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness from the University of Georgia. Operations Mr. Smallwood is a Compliance Manager and Director of Trading and Operations of Timbervest. He is primarily responsible for providing operational oversight and assuring Timbervest’s compliance with industry rules and regulations. In addition, Mr. Smallwood serves as a trader for Timbervest Securities global portfolio. Mr. Smallwood has more than 22 years of experience in the financial industry. Prior to joining Timbervest, Mr. Smallwood was the Director of Trading for Iron Capital and served in a senior compliance capacity where he helped to launch a hedge fund. Prior to his boutique investment advisory experience, Mr. Smallwood was a Senior International Equity Trader at Invesco for 10 years where he traded equities, derivatives, and currencies throughout the globe. Prior to joining Invesco, Mr. Smallwood served for 10 years at Merrill Lynch as an Institutional Equity Sales Trader, Customer Service Representative, and in various internships. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Syracuse University. Mr. Luke serves as the Human Resources Manager. He is primarily responsible for oversight and administration of recruiting, compensation, benefits, performance management, insurance, and employee relations. Prior to joining Timbervest, Mr. Luke was the Human Resources Manager with C.W. Matthews Contracting Co., Inc., a heavy construction firm. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Operational Management and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology at Georgia State University. Mr. Luke holds a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certificate with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
Ms. Falk joined Timbervest in 2012 as Office Manager. Her duties include managing day-to-day office operations and communications. She has previously worked as an office manager for several medical practices. Ms. Falk studied communications at Oglethorpe University. Crossover Mr. Normanly serves as a Portfolio Manager for Timbervest’s Crossover Assets Funds. He manages the firm’s investments in mitigation and conservation banking and other opportunistic assets focused on the environment and ecosystems. His primary responsibility is providing day to day oversight of existing Crossover Assets and implementing creative, well-defined, and active management plans to both maximize returns and develop functional, self-sustaining ecosystems with long-term conservation value. Mr. Normanly also works closely with the Managing Partners and the Crossover investment team to evaluate and underwrite new investment opportunities. Prior to joining Timbervest, Mr. Normanly served as Mitigation/Environmental Markets Practice Leader at Jacobs JJG (Jordan, Jones & Goulding), specializing in mitigation banking and ecological restoration. Over his 14 years of environmental consulting, he has worked on more than 90 mitigation and ecological restoration projects resulting in the restoration and preservation of several miles of stream and adjacent riparian habitat and hundreds of acres of wetlands. Many of these lands have been incorporated into state and county parks, wildlife management areas, and private reserves. Mr. Normanly is a frequent speaker at conferences that span multiple professional disciplines including forestry, environmental law, and water resources. He received a Bachelor of Science in Ecology from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill and a Master of Science in Forest Resources from the University of Georgia’s Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources. Mr. Normanly is certified as a Professional Wetland Scientist by the Society of Wetland Scientists and a Certified Ecologist by the Ecological Society of America.
Mr. Bernhardt serves as a Portfolio Manager for Timbervest Crossover Assets Funds and primarily focuses on the underwriting, due diligence, and financial analysis of prospective mitigation and conservation bank investments. Prior to joining Timbervest, Mr. Bernhardt worked as an Equity Research Analyst at Sandler O’Neill & Partners where he focused on the financial analysis and valuation of companies in the financial services industry. Mr. Bernhardt graduated from Vanderbilt University with a B.A. in Economics and is currently a Level III candidate in the CFA Program.
Mr. Jacobson serves as a Senior Associate for Timbervest Crossover Assets™ Funds. Mr. Jacobson primarily focuses on the underwriting and financial analysis of prospective investments as well as the management of existing assets purchased through the funds. Prior to joining Timbervest, Mr. Jacobson worked as an analyst at a boutique investment bank focusing on the gaming and leisure industries. Previously, Mr. Jacobson worked as a senior associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers in its real estate business advisory services group. Mr. Jacobson graduated from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University obtaining a BS in Finance with a concentration in real estate. Mr. Lorberbaum serves as an Analyst for Timbervest Crossover Assets™ Funds. He primarily focuses on the underwriting and financial analysis of prospective investments as well as the management of existing assets purchased through the funds. Prior to joining Timbervest, Mr. Lorberbaum worked as an intern at a boutique valuation and investment banking firm which offers its services to a broad range of clients. Mr. Lorberbaum graduated from the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia with a BBA in Finance and is currently a Level II candidate in the CFA program.
